Tom Maguire
In addition to being a CPA, Tom is a Charted Financial Consultant (ChFC), a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and holds a PFS (Personal Financial Specialist) designation of the American Institute of CPA’s. He is also an Accredited Estate Planner (AEP); a designation granted by the National Association of Estate Planning Councils. KPMG capitalized on his experience by making him the Professional Practice Partner-tax for Phoenix, San Diego and Orange County. He was also a member, along with approximately eight other partners, in the Personal Financial Planning Core Strategies Group. This group constituted a “think tank” group that met regularly in Washington, DC. The purpose of the group was to identify tax planning opportunities for the core tax practice. Tom is also a former member of the Board of Directors and past President of the Central Arizona Estate Planning Council; a member of the Arizona Board of Directors for Childhelp USA; a member of the Advisory Board for the Arizona Community Foundation and the Advisory Board of Phoenix Children’s Hospital and a member of the Board of Directors of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. |
Tom Maguire is Executive Vice President of Hebets & Maguire, LLC and an Investment Advisor Representative with NFP Securities, Inc., serving ultra high net wealth individuals as well as both public and private companies throughout the United States. Tom attended the University of Notre Dame, graduating in 1974. Tom spent most of the first twenty six years of his career in public accounting. Including twenty years as a tax partner in the Phoenix office of a big four accounting firm, KPMG. Tom’s role at KPMG involved running the Personal Financial Planning practices for the firm in Arizona. He worked with ultra high net worth individuals including several of the Forbes 400. Tom provided sophisticated income tax and estate planning services in conjunction with the client’s team of advisors. He also worked extensively advising clients in the areas of business succession planning and tax planning for the entities that these clients controlled. Tom joined forces with Jim Hebets in March 2003 and continued to provide similar services to clients in addition to integrating life insurance into their overall financial planning.
